My not-so-Golden Ticket

My mother's sewing machine, which happens to be a 1970s Contessa model is missing a lot of its attachments. This puts me at a huge disadvantage, because I'm missing the zipper foot. I went to Joann's with my boyfriend to get it, and hooray, they had it. I had previously gone to another Joann's and didn't find one in stock. So I was very excited at dinner to have my zipper foot, which I dubbed "my Golden Ticket" little did I know that it wouldn't fit. Earlier today I got on my mom's machine and attached it only to discover it didn't reach all the way down to the fabric. *sigh* So here I am with about 4 skirts to finish because all they need is a zipper to be attached. I believe its time to just give in and drive over to Sew Joe or Sew LA and use their machine.

Current must-have for the fall...

This fall seems to be filled with tons of zippers, hardware and over all "hard" looks yet with a feminine touch. Lots of studs and grommets to embellish clothes, handbags, shoes and anything you can think of. Studs have been the rage in Europe since winter 08 yet we are now entering the Fall 09/Winter 09/10 collections and studs seem to be making its rounds. Good thing I have my studded black leather purse from 08. But, despite the trends this is my must have for the fall. Its edgy, fashion forward and very practical. Found it only at Nordstrom, maybe I can make it myself. We'll see how bold I get this fall.

Inspiration

So while searching for a new skirt tutorial/pattern online I can across This Old Dress and had an idea for making a skirt. I recently had purchased a t-shirt at the local 99 Cent store with the intentions of making into a halter top, however, I think now the skirt will be better. :)

I'm thinking of going with the bottom part of the shirt for the skirt bottom and making even getting a bit more gutsy and using a different fabric for the waistband and encasing elastic. Let's see how this goes. I'll post pictures later on this week, hopefully by tomorrow.

Style Icon: Zooey Deschanel

I've decided to make Sunday my "Style Icon" of the week post. This week its Zooey Deschanel. I instantly fell in love with her after watching "500 Days of Summer". Her quirky, yet put together outfits have that vintage vibe that scream "CUTE!" I've even decided to make some circle skirts to embrace her style, which is one I'm currently working on mastering. Especially since I love vintage and the 50s.

First Blog~

So I've been contemplating whether or not to start a new blog regarding the new chapter of my life that has begun. Finally I decided to do it, maybe this way I can actually start to finish all the projects I started. More to come later.
